And with this understanding in mind, it amazes me to see how many people:

- Listen to nasty music and think it won’t affect them.

- Watch bad images and think they will not be impacted by them.

- Lie, cheat, and steal and think that it will not undermine their reputation.

- Are late, unprepared and apathetic and think that it will not impact their income potential.

- Make excuses and blame others for their sorry state and think that it serves a useful purpose.

- Surround themselves with a lousy reference group and think that they will not become just like them.

- Gossip about and criticize other people and think that it does not demonstrate a lack of character.

- Expose their mind and soul to behavioral indecencies and really think that it will not negatively impact their results.

These people are delusional if they think that’s the case.

UNFORTUNATELY, far too many are OVER-EXPOSED to these behavioral indecencies which add absolutely no value to their lives.

In fact, by remaining exposed to these indecencies, they are in effect digging a grave which they may never climb out of.

THE SOLUTION

You must never forget that your mind thinks about what it is exposed too.

Therefore, consciously give serious and consistent exposure to whatever is:

- True

- Noble

- Right

- Pure

- Lovely

- Admirable

If anything is excellent or praiseworthy–expose yourself accordingly.

I often ask myself;

On June 28th, I am asking you to do a nice deed that will positively and significantly impact the lives of three people.

Your reward will be the good feeling that comes from helping another person and in nurturing benevolent acts in others.

Guidelines

1. Identify three people or groups of people whom you would like to help. You can also recruit others to participate in this benevolent act with you.

2. Be creative, use your melon, and think of ways to use your time, talents or special gifts to blow someone’s mind, or simply put a beautiful smile on their face.

3. Remain anonymous.

4. Leave a note for the beneficiary of your benevolence. Ask them to “Pay it Forward” and to do a good deed for someone else.

5. Send me your story; let me know what you did and how it made you feel.

I have always felt that there are not enough NICE stories in circulation and hope that through your actions we can inspire random acts of benevolence throughout the world.

By participating in these acts you are helping to make the world a better place and inspiring others to do the same.

I believe that once you recognize the importance of these acts and consider their implications, it becomes difficult to imagine daily life without engaging in random acts of benevolence.

Thank you for helping me to make a positive and lasting impact.

The Funky Street Sweeper

Excellence is achieved via qualitative, not quantitative shifts in developing skills. Being part of a qualitatively different world or environment where excellence is expected and practiced is a key to achieving excellence.

The following quote from Martin Luther King beautifully demonstrates the meaning of a qualitative shift and how it pertains to personal excellence.

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.’”

‘I love to see people smile when they see me dancing and the Council has been very supportive in letting me do my job in a different way,’ said Ziggy.

The moral of this message is simple: Find a calling and then deliver it with excellence and your own sense of style.
