Mr. Blair,

What a shocker! I have been working/writing on this idea for about a year. I am still in the infant stages of my idea. But, in order to push myself, I requested to teach a class at my church this spring. So, in preparation, I started doing some web searches to see what is already out there. I am wonderfully surprised, while at the same time, a bit disappointed that I was not first. I just purchased your book (paid for overnight shipping) and can’t wait to start reading it!

I was playing with the idea of “The Detail Do Matter / The Small Stuff Matters Most / That Which is Most Vital in the Pursuit of Excellence.

I am not sure what to do/how to proceed now. I do not want to steal any of our ideas, even though we share much of the same philosophy!

Any words of encouragement?

Once you’ve discovered what it feels like to be passionate about what you do … it’s impossible to go back because it’s such an incredible high … why would you want to spend your days doing anything else but pursue your passion and “the” thing that makes worth getting up in the morning!

Thanks for reminding us all that finding and following your passion is the most important thing in life.

Great post Gary. I’m reminded of a quote from Kahlil Gibran, something to the effect, “he that bakes a loaf of bread without love bakes a bitter loaf that feeds but half man’s hunger.” I think I mangled the quote but that was the gist of it.

Don’t you think that another word that also applies here, right alongside with love, is character. We are concerned that what we do or say expresses the highest or truest quality of character we know.

Loving what you do, I agree is the key however it’s not always easy. I remember a line from a movie I saw long back- “if you love what you do, you never get old”. For example one of the reasons I blog is a passion for expression.

Sadly doing what we hate is a symptom of this world. Yet if we pursue what we love we’ll find a life filled with passion and love. Not only that, but it will be more profitable too. It’s a pity people don’t realize this, but it is changing slowly.
