Hey You.
Yeah…I’m talking to you.
You’re Pregnant.
That’s right…
No matter how you look at it…you’re pregnant!
Your hopes, dreams, goals and ideas…they’re your baby.
Your responsibility is to the new life growing inside you.
That movie that’s gestating inside you?
That’s your baby.
Same goes for…
That novel.
That album.
That new business.
The entire process of childbirth and goal achievement consists of three distinct stages.
The same three distinct stages.
Stage 1. Conception: seed fertilized.
Stage 2. Gestation: seed morphs, matures and muscle structure develops.
Stage 3. Delivery: labor…baby arrives.
Lest you determine that I’ve finally stepped off the curb…
Allow me to connect the dots and explain how this relates to you.
Every goal progresses through three stages of birth.
Conception: Everything you want to be, have and do begins as a tiny seed which gets conceived inside your mind.
Gestation: Your mind goes to work visualizing the outcome…a plan gets developed…your goal (baby) is maturing and taking shape.
Delivery: Labor pain is enforced in the form of hustle, hard work, discipline, focus and gritty perseverance…which results in your goal being achieved…your baby being born.
THE CRITICAL DIFFERENCE
When it comes to childbirth…the day your baby is due to arrive is called the estimated due date (EDD).
Only about 1 in 20 women give birth on their exact due dates.
Still, the EDD is useful for a number of reasons.
It determines your baby’s gestational age throughout pregnancy so that the baby’s growth can be tracked.
It provides a timeline for certain tests that you will have throughout your pregnancy.
It gives you time to pick a name, plan a party, paint a room, and purchase some diapers.
There’s nothing you can do to speed up or slow down the expected delivery date.
What will be…will be.
HOWEVER, when it comes to giving birth to your dreams and goals…the majority of people take forever to get the job done or sadly, never get to the third stage… DELIVERY.
You’re ability to deliver is your most important responsibility.
This is why I’ve always stated that the greatest waste of untapped resources in this world are the hopes, dreams, goals and ideas that never manifest into actual results.
In essence…they remain in an extended or perpetual gestation mode and never give birth.
They allow fear, doubt, procrastination, excuses and every self-limiting belief to psychologically subjugate their goals along with any chance of a fulfilling life.
Someday…in my next life…or, if I had to live my life over again is the victim language they choose to embrace and empower.
Behaving in this manner is the equivalent of being pregnant for 5, 10 or even 20 years with the same dreams and goals.
Does that sound like anyone you know?
Can you imagine what it would feel like being physically pregnant for 20 years?
Sadly…this is the way many people deal with their most cherished dreams and desires.
YOU’RE BABY IS COUNTING ON YOU
The primary reason and the root cause that holds people back from achieving their goals in life is…poor or non-existent execution.
Another way of saying it is that they do not want to deal with labor pains.
They want to arrive at and enjoy the abundant, delicious fruits of success without having to pay the price for it.
Life’s too short to be delusional about this point…
The marketplace ONLY rewards implementation.
And the better the implementation…the greater are the rewards.
Therefore goals like getting in shape, increasing revenue, launching a new product, learning a language, or even unpacking the boxes from your last move are completely meaningless without action.
You have no choice but to accept this reality…
Improving your execution skills is the savviest move you can make as superior execution removes the barrier between the life you are now living and the one you are capable of living.
I’ve saved the best part for last…
While there’s nothing you can do to expedite the childbirth, gestation process…there’s so much you can do to ACCELERATE THE GOAL ACHIEVEMENT PROCESS.
Think about it…there’s no added virtue in staying pregnant, nothing worth bragging about in getting rich slowly, in getting healthy slowly, in learning a new skill slowly, in turning your business around slowly nor in achieving any goal slowly.
