The Fork in The Road

A  FORK IN THE ROAD is a powerful metaphor for a defining moment in  your life, one where you must make an important decision when faced with multiple options.

Written in 1916, “The Road Not Taken” is a poem by Robert Frost. In  the final stanza he closes with these words…Two roads diverged in a  wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all  the difference.

Self-Discipline is your fork in the road, and your willingness and  ability to impose it consistently, will make a monumental difference  in your life, your career, your health, your finances, and in every  one of your relationships.

In today’s message; aptly titled Impose Self-Discipline, we are going  to take the road less traveled by, the one that leads to mastery over  self, the one that leads to freedom, the one that leads to the fast tracking of your goals. So, let’s get after it…

Search wherever you will for a single sound argument against imposing  self-discipline, and you will not find it, nor will you find a single instance of enduring success which was not attained in large part due to its application.

EVERY goal you want to achieve, every dream you want to manifest  requires the enforcement of self-discipline, self-control and self-awareness.

There is no exception to that rule, therefore the first thing you need to do each day is establish your goals and corresponding deadlines, and then enforce a strict set of disciplines necessary to cross the finish line of achievement.

Every act of self-discipline you impose moves you one step closer to your goals, and every exception takes you off course.

You may be tempted to pooh-pooh away this statement as something so obvious, however before you do, ask yourself this important question: “Based on the goals I set at the beginning of the year, am I ahead, on or below target?

The answer to that question is a direct result of your ability to execute and impose self-discipline.

And, when it comes to self-discipline, the FACTS are simply this; you are either buying or selling.

If you are on, or better yet ahead of target than you are a SELLER and you have sold yourself on the importance of discipline and have stayed focused in spite of the world of options and temptations that circle
you all of the time.

If you are below target than you are a BUYER and you have bought the same excuses that have led so many others down the pathway of mediocrity.

The things you buy are procrastination; self-doubt, insecurity, fear, uncertainty, lack of discipline and whatever else happens to be your poison of choice.

Remember this absolute rule of discipline; “If you do not learn to discipline yourself, you are guaranteed to be disciplined by others”. Discipline like deadlines are either self-imposed or externally imposed by others…it’s your choice.

THE FORK IN THE ROAD

Self-discipline is the smartest, simplest and fastest way to make life as easy possible.

To create history, and to unleash your greatness, you must become a seller. You must sell yourself on the power of your goal; you must sell yourself on the importance of self-discipline, and you must sell yourself on the idea that anything is possible if you want it badly enough.

To repeat history and to perpetuate your existing results, all you have to do is continue being a buyer. Buyers consume not only products and services, but they also buy a big bag of lame excuses and self-defeating behaviors.

To experience true freedom, and to truly learn how to fast track your goals, you must prove to yourself that you are the master of your own destiny.

Never are you less free than when you are held hostage by your excuses and lack of discipline.

WHY?

Because, when lack of discipline and excuses rule, enslavement and mediocrity, certainly not freedom, follows.

Everything Counts!
